Alan Wake II is going to be Remedy Entertainment’s first exploit in the horror survival genre. The Finnish company made the Max Payne series. So, the old timers would know how good they are at creating spooky atmospheres and thrilling fight sequences.

Alan Wake II will follow the stories of Alan Wake and FBI agent Saga Anderson. According to creative director Alan Wake, the story will be evenly split between the newcomer Saga and Alan Wake. Players will have to choice to play as Alan Wake or Saga Anderson at certain junctures.

The new horror survival game is set in the Pacific Northwest. An FBI agent, Saga Anderson connects a series of murders with the disappearance of horror writer Alan Wake 13 years ago, and starts investigating. Soon, her life itself becomes a horror story.

The trailer opens with Saga Anderson, the FBI agent who’s investigating a chain of seemingly ritualistic murders, walking through the woods towards an abandoned house. The rustle of the leaves create the perfect preamble to a couple of solid jump scares before a beast – a resurrected murder victim with a deer’s head – starts attacking Saga.

An enthralling fight ensues, ending with the beast dead. This is followed by a short glimpse of Alan Wake’s usual thought-puzzles that players of the old time would relate to. Overall, the trailer promises a very good time.

Alan Wake II drops on October 17. It will be available on XBox Series X, PS5, and PC via Epic Games Store. Preorders are open.
