Anime Series Skull Island Lands on Netflix on June 22nd

Skull Island finally gets a release date on Netflix after being pushed back quite a bit. The co-production of Legendary Entertainment, Powerhouse Animation Studios, and Tractor Plants, was first announced in early 2021. Skull Island is part of the King Kong franchise owned by Legendary Entertainment. We had a movie from the same franchise with a slightly different name in 2017. Remember, Kong: Skull Island – Rise of the King, starring Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleton, and Brie Larson? The anime is set in the same pacific island with prehistoric monsters along with King Kong.

The plot of the anime series “follows shipwrecked characters desperate to survive the most dangerous place on Earth, the island that is home to colossal monsters, including the iconic “megaprimatus” Kong”. Brian Duffield is helming the writing team. The executive producers are Brad Graeber, Brian Duffield, and Jacob Robinson. You may remember Brian Duffield for his work in Love and Monsters.

The first look shared by Netflix has piqued a lot of interest among anime fans. Something that the story of Skull Island always deserved an anime expression. Fans are excited to finally get that.
