Cordless Tools For Construction Sites: Pros And Cons

Cordless Tools For Construction Sites: Pros And Cons

Cordless tools have taken the construction and manufacturing industries by storm. You can purchase the cordless version of most tools these days, from oscillating saws to grinders. Cordless tools are powered by the next generation of batteries that utilise innovative technology. These batteries offer more power, better durability, and faster charging times for cordless tools.

It’s time to invest in the cordless revolution and see what all the fuss is about. However, power tools are expensive, and you need to thoroughly research your options before you invest. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of cordless tools for construction sites.

Advantages of cordless tools

The main advantage of a cordless tool is that they don’t have a cord. Talk about stating the obvious, right? A cord can get in the way of your work and make it difficult to manoeuvre in hard-to-reach spaces. You can trip over cords and struggle to store them correctly. Without a cord, you can fit the tool into tighter spaces without worrying about falling over the cord.

They are much easier to store because you don’t need to worry about the cord getting tangled. You can put them on a shelf without the wire dangling down or in your work bag.

The battery of a cordless tool is very important. A Milwaukee battery is reliable, powerful and durable. You can assess its reliability by how well it holds charge. You should be able to use it all day without running out of battery.

Disadvantages of cordless tools

Unfortunately, the power of cordless tools is the main downfall. Cordless tools cannot offer the same amount of torque as a corded tool because their battery would drain too fast. The battery is also heavy, and cordless tools tend to weigh more than ten pounds. If you are moving around on-site and transporting your tools, weight might be a big factor for you. However, this shouldn’t be a problem for those using tools in their workshop.

There is also the issue of charging wait time. If your tool dies midway through a task, you will need to wait while it recharges. This can be frustrating, especially if you are working on a deadline. You need to factor in charging time into your day and prepare for the long wait time.

Cordless tools are more expensive because they come with a high-tech battery. Corded tools are the more traditional option and don’t tend to cost as much. On the other hand, corded tools can be impractical on worksites without an easy-access power supply. Sometimes cordless options are more appropriate for on-the-go jobs, despite being a little heavier.

Think about how and where you use power tools to decide which ones you need.
