“They have come to me and we are having a word” Campbell-46 stated in an interview with YouTuber Jake Hamilton on Wednesday, May 6. “It’s tough at the moment because of coronavirus to know when that will happen. Hopefully, we can meet eye to eye on all of the elements that have to come into place for it to happen.”
The star admitted that she was earlier “apprehensive” about appearing in another scream installment without Wes Craven helming it. The late filmmaker, who died in August 2015 at the age of 75, created the scream franchise in 1996 and the iconic horror films, such as A Nightmare on Elm Street and the Hills Have Eyes.
Campbell believes that Craven is “such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are. There was an announcement last month that ready or Not directors were tapped for scream-5. On Wednesday Campbell explained that Bettinelli- Olpin and Gillette game surity to her that they aim to do right by Craven with the Slasher flick.
The three sequences of Scream has been released since the original 1996 received warm praise from critics and success at the box office. The recent film Scream 4, hit the theatres in 2011 and a Scream anthology series premiered on MTV in 2015. When the original Scream celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2016, and Campbell feels that she didn’t anticipate the movie becoming pop culture funda.
