To increase the Return on Investment (ROI) of a business, it is important to have a well-designed website and its optimization through Search Engine Optimization (SEO) because most of the consumer searches online before purchasing any product.

In order to reach the target audience, a company needs to work on both on-page SEO and off-page SEO. On page includes all the activities that are being done on the website by making a change in HTML code. Off pages includes all those activities which are performed outside the website.

In 2013, on page counts was 30% and off page counts was 70%. In 2015, 50% activities were done on page and 50% activities were done on off page. But the scenario completely changes in 2017. Now, 70% activities performed on a website are on page and 30% is off page.

The important part of on page includes the keywords found in your page titles, image descriptions, content, and so on. Focusing on more strategic keywords that are relevant to the industry increases the chance of being featured in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Now, the question is how to identify the best keyword for the business website?  Let’s have a look.

v Put yourself in your client’s place

A keyword is relevant to you only if it is really used by users to find you. So, think like you are a customer or client and you are searching for the query. Place the keyword in the content, Meta description, and title of every web page to make it more searches friendly.

v See if there is a specific request

For any business, it is important to know the search volume for a particular keyword. To find out, there is a very effective tool named Google Keyword Planner”. Through this tool, one can better gain the idea about the number of searches on a specific keyword. And according to that data, you can choose the keyword for your website.

v Always be relevant

People who land on your site need to find exactly what they are looking for. Otherwise, your strategy will fail. Make sure that your keywords are relevant as per your products and services or according to the needs of the consumer. If some keyword has the same meaning then chooses the one that has more search volume.

v Evaluate the competition on the keywords

It is harder to get the rank on the first page of search engine results because there are multiple websites which is also competing with the same keyword. So, focusing on page optimization (especially on keyword optimization) would be beneficial in a number of ways.

So, these are some of the key areas which should be taken into account before going for SEO.
