How To Transition Your Business To Remote Work

During the pandemic, working from home has taken off. In this article, we will talk about how to start moving a company to remote work.

Find the employees

Employees who work remotely can be located in any country. In many countries where the average wage is lower, hiring an employee is much more profitable. For example, the virtual assistant india cost is lower than the cost of the same employee from England or the USA. Thus, you will save the company’s budget and get tasks completed with high quality.

Think about connection

You need to deal with the technical side of the issue: how exactly employees will work remotely. There are three options here:

  • Employee’s computer. Then it is enough to ask the technical department to arrange access to work resources for the employee.
  • Computer from the office. If an employee does not have his computer, order him to deliver an office car to his home. This option is also useful if you need powerful programs that won’t run on a home laptop.
  • Remote access. Computers work in the office, and employees connect to them via remote access. In this case, you will have to keep a system administrator in the office, who will make sure that everything works and the data do not fall into third hands.

Consider documents

You must take care of legal delays if your personnel is formally hired. You are free to create an addendum to the employment contract and you must specify that remote work is the new kind of employment in the contract.

Keep in mind to pay as usual. Transferring to a home office cannot justify a wage cut, and you must pay the difference in accordance with the terms of your employment agreement. Taxes are paid in the same sum.

Manage teamwork

You must be aware of the employee’s activities to ensure that he does not merely use your computer at your expense. There are two dubious choices:

  • You may inquire about how things are going all the time. However, that is a bad idea. It irritates you, and employees dislike such requests, but regrettably, they are still used in certain businesses.
  • The installation of a time management program on computers is a practical choice. Not all of your subordinates will appreciate having their screen recorded, but you will know precisely what they do during the workday.

The task manager is, however, the greatest place to arrange all of your work. An application called a manager lets you see who is handling certain tasks and how much time is left to do them. The employee begins the work and marks it as finished when it is accomplished. Procrastinators are dealt with by a clear and intelligible task management system, which also serves as a reminder that working from home is still work and not a holiday.

Clarify rules

The transition to a new format will require new regulations. For example, you will have to answer the questions: “Is it tactful to call a colleague very often just to chat?”, “How to correspond so as not to annoy anyone?”, “What to do if I do not have time to complete the task in any way?” It is better to enter the answers in a separate document as soon as these questions arise – as a result, you will get a real FAQ that will help employees work effectively.

In general, there is nothing difficult in switching to a remote work mode, but there are some nuances that need to be taken into account.
