Hulu has recently chosen a replacement for Justin Roiland in its popular animated comedy series Solar Opposites. We will now see Dan Stevens voicing the lead character. Dan Stevens is known well for his roles in Downton Abbey, Legion, and Gaslit. This decision has come after Roiland was sacked in January owing to charges of domestic violence brought against him.
Stevens will lend his voice to the character of Korvo, a grumpy, earth-despising alien. Korvo is determined to repair their spaceship so he can escape to a new planet. You can catch a glimpse of Stevens as Korvo here.
This is Stevens’ second engagement with the makers of the show, 20th Television Animation. He is also a part of the adult animated comedy, Central Park. Stevens credits in the animated industry include Max’s The Prince, and Netflix’s Kipo, and the Age of Wonders Beasts. Stevens voices Prince Charles in The Prince.
All 11 episodes of season 4 of this Hulu series will be available on August 11. There’s also a Valentine’s Day special scheduled for next year. To the delight of fans, the series received a renewal order for the fifth season back in October last year.
Justin Roiland’s removal from Solar Opposites is connected with his departure from another popular show Rick and Morty. Justin Roiland is a co-creator of Rick and Morty with Dan Harmon. Roiland lost his deal with 20th Animation as a producer earlier this year. Currently, Warner Bros. Discovery is looking for actors to voice Rick and Morty.
Roiland’s career suffered a significant blow following allegations of domestic violence and reports of troubling behavior, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter and other sources. Although the Orange County District Attorney dismissed the domestic violence charges due to insufficient evidence, Roiland maintains his innocence and considers the outcome a form of “justice.”
Another show executive-produced by Roiland, The Koala Man, is also under deliberation by Hulu. The first season of the show where Roiland also voiced a character, aired in January.
