Ken Starr, the brave independent counsel who fought hard to investigate and unravel a White House sex scandal leading to the impeachment of the 42nd US President Mr Bill Clinton for lying under oath and obstructing justice, dies at the age of 76 at a hospital in Houston.
Alice Starr, the wife of the Former Solicitor General of the United States of America, said that he spent his last 17 weeks at the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center where he fought an undisclosed illness and succumbed to it owing to some complications during his surgery. Alice did not reveal any further detail.
For a long period of time, Ken Starr became a household name when he was investigating into the affair of former US president Bill Clinton and White House intern Monica Lewinsky. The investigation dug deep and uncovered issues such as sexual harassment, issues of accountability, ideology, and morality.
Ken Starr served as a lawyer for former US President Donald J. Trump in the year 2020 during his first Senate trial. Unlike the Clinton case, this time Starr stood on the opposite side of impeachment.
Mr Ken Starr served as a well-reputed and respective Judge of the appeals court. He was also the solicitor general as a future Supreme Court Justice before he became the sole counsel during the Bill Clinton investigation. The former lawyer also served as the dean of the Law School of the University of Pepperdine in California. Mr Starr was also the president of Baylor University from where he resigned early.
The former US lawyer drew heavy criticism when he represented the billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for his heinous crimes against young girls in the state of Florida.
According to the friends and admirers of the former US Lawyer, Mr Starr was frequently misunderstood by the public and constantly caricatured by the Clinton political machine. To them, Mr Ken Starr was a principled and professional lawyer who devoted his entire career in commitment to what he thought was right.
