In this year’s Super Bowl, the Cincinnati Bengals will play against the Los Angeles Rams, i.e., the ultimate Rams vs Bengals clash. The match will take place in the latter’s home stadium in Inglewood, California. The two teams last met in 2019. The game resulted in the Cincinnati Bengal’s defeat.
Officials declared the matchup after the conference championship matches were held on Sunday. The Rams came back to beat the 49ers 20-17 in the NFC Championship game.
The Rams are the second team to play in the Super Bowl, and that too in their home stadium. They defeated the 49ers. The only other club to do so is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are also the only team to have won the game at home.
The Rams are looking for their second Super Bowl triumph, with quarterback Matthew Stafford leading the way. The Rams’ only win came against the Tennessee Titans in 2000. The squad was then known as the St. Louis Rams.
The Game
Cincinnati advanced to its third Super Bowl trip in franchise history. They defeated Kansas City on Sunday. In the AFC Championship, the Bengals beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime.
In overtime, Kansas City won the toss and decided to receive. However, a tenacious Bengals defense stopped them in their tracks. Furthermore, the Cincinnati rookie kicker Evan McPherson made a 31-yard field goal to give the Bengals the victory.
Cincinnati’s comeback made way for the largest one to date in a modern Super Bowl title game. Curiously, since their first Super Bowl debut in 1989, the Bengals have never won a Super Bowl.
SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, will host the Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, February 13. The game will kick off at the Rams’ home field at 3:30 p.m. For the first time, a club will host both the championship game and the Super Bowl in their home stadium.
Where To Watch?
NBC holds the rights to broadcast the Rams vs Bengals game. You can watch the game on Peacock, the NBC Sports App, or NBCSports.com if you don’t have access to a cable-connected television. For the first time in Super Bowl history, the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show will feature Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar together on the same stage.
