Minions: Rise of Gru released in theaters but will go on Netflix US in 2023 for 10 months
Until the New Year, Minions: Rise of Gru was one of the significant summer movies which is available also on Peacock. The second of the Minions franchise and the sixth of the overall Despicable franchise, Minions: Rise of Gru released in July 2022, and is all set to come on Netflix in January 2023. It is confirmed by the streamer itself.
Minions: Rise of Gru is coming seven long years after the first Minions movie. It is reportedly the prequel to the Minions movie and it revolves around the “untold story of one twelve-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain.”
In 2022, the movie was listed among the highest-grossing movies.
Steve Carrell is playing the character of Gru as usual and the cast of the film includes other actors such as Russell Brand, Alan Arkin, Julie Andrews, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Michelle Yeoh.
Owing to a brand new deal between Netflix and Universal, Illumination movies are still continuing to come to Netflix US although circumstances were different in the previous years.
Before 2022, the entire pay-1 window was owned by Netflix. To say more about this fact, Sing 2 came to Netflix US in June 2022 as part of the legacy deal between Netflix and Universal.
Following the theatrical window, Minions: Rise of Gru went to Peacock for four months, from where it will come to Netflix for 10 months, followed by another four months (probably the last four months) on Peacock again.
It took the second Minions movie a total of 84 days to go on Peacock on the 23rd of September after it was released on the 1st of July, 2022. The timeline of the Minions movie was a little longer than The Bad Guys which came to Netflix on the 1st of November 2022.
The fact that the second Minions movie was headed for Netflix in January was confirmed by Netflix’s January release schedule of 2023.
It is unknown whether the movie will be available on Netflix on a global scale, but it is confirmed that Minions: Rise of Gru is coming to Netflix US.
