During the pandemic of COVID, Warner Bros Picture announced that all of the 2021 films of its including the “Matrix” movie, and others will be there to stream on HBO Max. They also said that at the same of releasing movies on HBO Max they will also be released in theaters as well.
Among so many of plan changes due to the pandemic, no studio has started fully streaming. After disappointing the domestic ticket sales for Tenet and with the majority of U.S. theaters closed at present are now going to allow turn on the hybrid distribution model. This means that films of 2021 are simultaneously going to release in theaters as well on HBO Max in the US. But after one month onwards, they will stop streaming on HBO Max and will start playing them and providing the services of theaters. But at present just because of the pandemic they decided to release the movies on HBO Max as well.
Probing further, the move follows Warner Bros.’ decision to put “Wonder Woman 1984” on HBO Mac by the end of December. If pivot sent shockwaves to the industry, then it is sure that the announcement of Thursday will rattle down the Hollywood to the core. It amounts that the full rebound of theaters is still a year or more away so be patient.
Warner Bros call this one-year plan. Moreover, this is the studio that has ranked up with the top two best studios in the market over the past decades. Warner Bros 2021 slate includes many of the expected top movies of this year “Dune,” “The Suicide Squad,” “Tom & Jerry,” and many more only on HBO Max.
