The form Yamato assumes when he changes is that of the once-common Japanese wolf, known as the Makami. Legends tell us that it had an understanding of human languages and protected people from ill luck, fires or devastation to their crops.

2. It’s the 2nd Wolf Model in the Series

Yamato’s Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami is among the two Devil Fruits based on wolves. The original wolf model was Jabra of CP9’s who debuted in the Enies Lobby arc.
