There has been a legal battle and a lot of discussion around the estate of Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis’ daughter. The trouble has mostly been between Priscilla Presley. But Amid all of that, Priscilla Presley, the iconic actress and mother of Lisa Marie, has emphatically clarified that, “Riley and I are on good terms. We were never not on good terms. That was all publicity.”
She dispelled the notion that there was increased tension between her and Riley Keough as rumor.
Lisa Marie Presley’s trust was at the center of the recent legal turmoil that put the Presley family back on the print. Priscilla filed a petition challenging the authenticity of an amendment made to the Lisa Marie’s trust agreement that removed her as a co trustee and put things in the hands of Lisa Marie’s children instead.
In May 2023, four months after Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla and Riley came to an agreement. Riley Keough, Harper Lockwood, and Finley Lockwood became the trustees for 9/10th of the trust. Priscilla’s son received a 1/10th share. And Priscilla herself received a $1 million lump sum.
Prscilla thinks her petition was misconstrued as a fight. It did not have anything to do with her personal bond with granddaughter Riley. Riley is happy to have arrived at a settlement with her grandmother. “She was hoping they could reach a settlement quickly… Riley is still grieving her mom. It’s been very tough for her. She wants to focus on making memories with her own daughter now. This is her priority.“
“Things with Grandma will be happy. They’ve never not been happy,” Riley said in an interview. “There was a bit of upheaval, but now everything’s going to be how it was. She’s a beautiful woman, and she was a huge part of creating my grandfather’s legacy and Graceland… It’s a big responsibility she has tried to take on. None of that stuff has really ever been a part of our relationship prior. She’s just been my grandma.”
