Based on Archie Comics, the American drama series Riverdale first released in 2017. After 4 super hit seasons Riverdale season 5 came this year. Writer Ted Sullivan said that Riverdale season 5 will have a total of 19 episodes. Riverdale season 5 premiered in January, 2021 and the 10th episode of the season released on March 31, 2021. After the 10th episode, Riverdale has gone on a hiatus.
Why is Riverdale on hiatus?
Riverdale season 5 was delayed due to COVID19 and premiered late. So, currently the series is taking both winter and spring break and is on a hiatus for almost 4 months. The hiatus was already on schedule as Alex Zalben tweeted, “PSA: After the first half of the season, #Riverdale will go on a pre-planned hiatus and is currently scheduled to return for the back half of Season 5 on Wednesday, July 7 at 8/9c.”
When are the remaining episodes of season 5 premiering?
Even though Riverdale season 5 was set to resume in July but according to the reports of TV line, the hiatus extended. Now, the next episode of Season 5 will premiere on August 11, 2021.

What has happened in the show till now in Riverdale season 5?
With so many great story elements to explore, it’s easy to see why this series has been such a hit. Each new season brings in more fans that are dying to know more about Archie and his gang of friends. At the beginning of season 5, after the time skip star characters have become teachers at Riverdale. However, even though several years have passed, things haven’t changed much for the residents of Riverdale.
The Riverdale season 5 dove deeply into many of the issues that are facing this new iteration of Riverdale. Once Archie and his gang of friends left the town for a few years, things began to slowly fall apart. People began to move out in droves and only a few original inhabitants of Riverdale remain.
Archie and the gang were tasked with returning to the Forgotten town to bring it back from the brink of destruction. In turn of events, the story is taking a much darker turn, as many of the bodies begin to pop up on Veronica’s father’s property. The complexity between the characters is revealing and the story is becoming much more interesting.
What might happen in the remaining part of Season 5?
Riverdale writer Ted Sullivan said that the remaining part is his favourite and episode 12 is the best. Ted tweeted, “No one will guess why. It’s a break-the-mold episode. You’ll understand when you see it. It’s inspired by two of my favorite movies. And no – it’s not a Barchie/Varchie/Choni/Bughead ep. But it does a deep dive into the legacy of the show and motivation for the entire series.” This shows that the upcoming episodes will be epic with lots of plots to play.
Future of Riverdale
If the remaining Riverdale season 5 episodes are released on time, the season 5 of Riverdale will conclude in September. In general, a new season of Riverdale premieres in October. So, assuming the CW remains on track, we may see season 6 a month after season 5. The hype is genuine. Now, only time will tell when the beloved series’ sixth season will premiere.
