Ashley Callingbull is a model from Alberta, Canada. She has made history. She is the first Indigenous woman to feature in SI Swimsuit. The magazine will get released on May 19th, 2022. The model was the finalist for the 2022 SI Swim Search. She got shortlisted from among thousands of participants. She then got photographed by the award-winning photographer Tsai.
Callingbull is a motivational speaker and a beauty pageant queen. She has overcome her insecurities and was able to reach the feat that she has today. As an indigenous woman, she wanted her voice to get heard. She aspires to break the stereotypes of natives. She aims to make people realize that indigenous people can achieve anything. She also stated that all her life she has struggled with self-image issues and has also faced racism. Callingbull also recalls she got ridiculed by the media. This was when she stood on the national stage for a pageant. She has always felt that she was only associated with a stereotype and the media. Also, people around her were not able to see her beyond that.
Callingbull, talked about her fitness regime. She believes that strength training helped her achieve the best shape possible. Also, being a jingle dancer, it also availed her to work on her fitness. For her cardio, she started running with her dog. It helped her fulfill her cardio requirements. She believes that mental and spiritual health is as important as physical health.
She hopes that women all around the world would learn to love and appreciate themselves. They must learn to live in a fearless manner. Every little insecure girl can bloom into a strong resilient woman, says Callingbull. Today, she has achieved her dream.
