The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, was released earlier this year in March and received critical acclaim as well as box office success. In light of its success, Warner Bros. announced that a sequel to the movie was already in the works. April brought news that Reeves would be returning to his directorial role for the second film while Robert Pattinson would once again don the cape and cowl as Gotham’s Dark Knight.
The recent joint appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEOs of DC studios is probably the reason behind the postponement of its sequel. With them in charge, lots of other projects have been put on hold or scrapped completely; these include The Wonder Twins and Batgirl. There was even concern that The Batman 2 would get cut short; however, we can relax knowing that Matt Reeves is writing the script with Mattson Tomlin, therefore, saving the project from being cancelled.
The Batman 2 Release Date
Although it might seem like a long time to fans, the 2025 release for The Batman 2 is actually quite normal; most major franchises have three-year gaps between sequels and the original film. Reeves will most likely finish the script in at least another year, and then there are additional years of filming and production that have to be done. Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2 (The Story)
In Batman: The Long Halloween pt. 2, after failing to bankrupt Bruce Wayne at the request of Carmine Falcone, Catwoman manages to help him break free of Poison Ivy’s spell in Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2. When he returns some months later, he discovers that more holiday-related murders have taken place in Gotham City, but no clues regarding the identity of “Holiday” have come out.
Commissioner Gordon is still working with Harvey Dent, but recently, things have taken a turn for the worse. Dent gradually goes insane and suffers from a schizophrenic break. He becomes Two-Face during court testimony when after Maroni throws acid on his face.
As Maroni and Falcone continue to fight each other, Holiday has killed members of both their families. Catwoman divulges her reason for being interested in Falcone to Batman as Two-Face and Solomon Grundy break several criminals out of Arkham Asylum.
The Joker, The Penguin, Scarecrow, and Mad Hatter team up to make Two-Face’s Gotham City crime spree look like child’s play. Meanwhile, Batman and Catwoman must put aside their differences to protect Falcone from the supervillain alliance. Who is Holiday? Everything will unravel in its own time.
