The ball was diverged by Raiders’ safety Jack Tatum and into the hands of Steelers’ running back Franco Harris, who took it into the end zone for a touchdown. 

The play, which has since become known as the Immaculate Reception, helped lead the Steelers to a 13-7 victory and a spot in the AFC Championship game.

The Music City Miracle

This play happened during a wild card playoff game between the Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills on January 8, 2000. With just 16 seconds remaining in the game, Titans’ wide receiver Kevin Dyson caught a lateral pass from teammate Frank Wycheck and took it 75 yards for a touchdown. 

The play, which has become known as the Music City Miracle, helped lead the Titans to a 22-16 victory and a spot in the AFC Divisional Round.

The Catch

This play occurred on January 10, 1982 during a NFC Championship game between San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. With just over a minute left in the game, 49ers’ quarterback Joe Montana launched a high-arcing pass towards the back of the end zone. The ball was caught by 49ers’ wide receiver Dwight Clark, who made an acrobatic catch while being heavily guarded by Cowboys’ defender Everson Walls. 

The Catch helped lead the 49ers to a 28-27 victory and a trip to the Super Bowl.

The Helmet Catch

This play happened on February 3, 2008 during Super Bowl XLII, which was between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. With just 35 seconds remaining in this exciting game, Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning launched a pass down the field towards the wide receiver David Tyree. Tyree made an incredible catch by pinning the ball against the helmet with one hand while being heavily guarded by Patriots’ defender Rodney Harrison. 

The catch, which has become known as the Helmet Catch, helped lead the Giants to a 17-14 victory over the undefeated Patriots.

The Minnesota Miracle

This play occurred on January 14, 2018 during a NFC Divisional Round playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. With just 10 seconds remaining in the game, Vikings’ quarterback Case Keenum launched a pass down the field towards wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs caught the ball and ran into the end zone for a touchdown, giving the Vikings a 29-24 victory and a spot in the NFC Championship game. 

The play, which has since become known as the Minnesota Miracle, is considered one of the greatest in NFL history.
