The Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer: Grand Inquisitor, Youthful Luke Skywalker

This post is the trailer breakdown for Obi-Wan Kenobi that you’ve been looking for. Although, Ewan McGregor returns to the Star Wars property after 17 years. Wearing his iconic Jedi robes to reprise his place as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the new Disney Plus series. While the debut date for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, planned for May 25, 2022, is still a few weeks away, Disney has published a teaser video.

The Plot

Return to Tatooine with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. It appears in both the original and prequel trilogies and The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett; thus, it should be recognizable to all Star Wars fans. The setting in the Obi-Wan Kenobi reveals video shows how the sandy planet has changed in the years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was released. For those who need a refresher, the Disney Plus series takes place ten years after Sheev Palpatine issues Order 66. This seeks to exterminate all Jedi. Those who survived went into hiding, including Obi-Wan, who travels to Tatooine to live a secret life while keeping an eye on a young Luke Skywalker.

The first glance at a young Luke Skywalker was one of the biggest shocks in the Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser. On top of uncle Owen and Aunt Beru’s house, we observe the Jedi’s (eventual) new hope of experiencing his own ‘now this is Podracing’ moment. It is the boy who will one day grow up to be Mark Hamill’s notorious Death Star destroyer. So, for the time being, he is secluded on Tatooine under Obi-cautious Wan’s supervision, away from the Empire, the Inquisitors, and Luke’s father, Darth Vader.

Who Portrays Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Ewan McGregor reprises his role, 17 years after Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. McGregor portrays an older, more weathered Obi-Wan than the one you previously saw in action. Having spent ten years alone keeping watch on Luke as the Empire searches the galaxy for them. This reveal trailer reflects that side of the character — there are no “Hello there!” moments, and you don’t even get to see Obi-Wan wielding his iconic blue lightsaber. So, with the Inquisitors pursue him throughout the galaxy, it’s understandable if he’s lost some of his wit.

On May 25, Disney+ will debut Obi-Wan Kenobi. Deborah Chow directs the film based on Harold’s screenplays. The cast includes Kumail Nanjiani, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross.
