Recent action by Twitter was the ban on project Veritas Account founded by controversial activist James O’Keefe. The New York Times and The Verge report that Twitter justified this action by stating the platform’s privacy policy violation on account of the threat of sharing personal information without consent.
The account was prominent on the social media platform. However, its reliability is often questioned by the audience. Project Veritas is a conservative group that exposes all the malpractices in the media. The organization has been accused of spreading manipulated videos several times before.
The havoc arose when a video was uploaded in the account where a Project Veritas worker was interrogating Facebook executive Guy Rosen outside his home.
O’Keefe’s account is also locked temporarily until he removes the violative content from the account. While Project Veritas claims that the video tweeted did not have any personal information. It said on its Telegram channel. “Project Veritas is appealing this decision, as no privacy was violated.”

James emailed the Twitter officials saying that their decision is not justified as the video had no private information.
“It would be unconscionable for me to take down our reporting where it didn’t violate anyone’s privacy rights,” O’Keefe said.
It was then that Twitter said it was mistakenly communicated that the account can be restored in any way indicating that this was the permanent suspension of their account.
Twitter has always been very strict with its policies and has banned several famous accounts previously. It has accused accounts right-wing groups and individuals of alleged misinformation, calls to violence, and privacy threats. Banning the Ex-US President Donald Trump’s account is the most recent example.
However, Veritas is not expected to sit back in silence. It may drive its followers and supporters towards an alternative social network to continue its work.
