Instagram’s company head Adam Mosseri, in a recent Instagram channel chat with Mark Zuckerberg, announced that users can now comment or reply to a comment with GIFs from Giphy. Mosseri himself said, “This is a bit of ‘finally feature’ but we’re launching GIFs in the comments…” Notably, Meta was forced to sell Giphy in 2022 by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority.
Instagram is also testing lyrics in reels. Mosseri shared a screenshot which hints that there will be a timeline at the bottom of the interface which will allow a user to sync the caption with the video. This feature builds on the auto-caption feature that Meta had launched in 2021.

Now, the even bigger ‘finally feature’! You can now add up to five links to your Instagram profile. Users had been requesting this feature for years and there was constant resistance from Meta. Finally, on Tuesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the launch of the new feature. Meanwhile users have been using tools like Linktree to direct viewers to different social media profiles and channels from Instagram.
You can use the edit profile button to add the links. Once you add more than one link to your profile, Instagram will truncate the first link and show how many more are available. Once someone taps on the link they will see a window with all the different links. It may not be the best layout but it works. Though this feature is designed to discourage the use of Linktree, it will probably not. Link Tree doesn’t limit the number of links and gives you more room for customization. Hence, it’s doubtful how many users will actually stop using Linktree and shift to the in-built feature.
