Valhalla, the long-awaited sequel to MGM’s “Vikings”, finally arrived on Netflix in early 2022. Season 2 is expected to premiere in January 2023, and here are all the details we know of it so far!

Netflix’s historical drama series, Vikings: Valhalla is a spin-off of History Channel’s successful show, Vikings. Created by Michael Hirst and produced by MGM Productions, the new series promises to be just as captivating as its predecessor.

One hundred years after the Great Viking army took control of England in Ragnar Lothbrok’s name, Vikings: Valhalla depicts his sons sailing off to continue their father’s work.

  • The season two of the show is set for a comeback on the 12th of January, 2023
  • Vikings: Valhalla would also return for a 3rd season
  • For seasons 2 and 3, Jeb Stuart remains the showrunner
  • Leo Suter (Harald Sigurdsson), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis Eriksdotter), and Sam Corlett (Leif Eriksson) to make a comeback for the second season

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Release Date

Yes, the show is confirmed! Netflix confirmed that Vikings: Valhalla is returning on January 12th, 2023 with a bang! 

When was Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Renewed?

The show has been so successful that not only has it been renewed for a second season, but production for a third season will begin soon.

The reason for this early renewal is the show’s 24-episode order when it was first announced.

Under this new agreement, Netflix has secured the rights to air the original Vikings series. In a couple years, both Netflix UK and US will be able to offer seasons 1-6 to their subscribers.

Netflix’s announcement of the return of Vikings: Valhalla for seasons two and three has been set for March 9th, 2022.

How Well did Vikings: Valhalla Season 1 Perform on Netflix?

The show has been extremely successful, based on Netflix Top 10 data. In just two days after its release, it was watched for a total of 80.56 million hours – making it the second most-watched show that week.

In the 37 days (between February 25th and April 3rd, 2022) since it debuted on Netflix, the show has been watched for a combined 265,550,000 hours globally.

It’s hard to compare new hourly data, but from what we can see, Vikings: Valhalla did better (especially in the first 2-3 weeks) compared to The Last Kingdom’s final season release.
