Wolverine & Deadpool to “Hate Each Other” in Deadpool 3

Wolverine & Deadpool to “Hate Each Other” in Deadpool 3
  • Hugh Jackman recently revealed that the contentious relationship between Wolverine and Deadpool will reach a boiling point of hatred in the highly anticipated third installation of Deadpool.

Recently, the actor appeared on the Empire Film Podcast and humorously alluded to their complicated relationship, suggesting that Logan (the clawed mutant) often wishes to punch Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) in his head. Upon being asked about the dynamics of their relationship, Jackman said, “How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality: we’re zero; we’re opposites, hate each other.”

Hugh Jackman added, “I’m just talking from my perspective. [Logan is] frustrated by him [and] wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

Jackman, currently in the limelight with his role in The Music Man on Broadway, conveyed that it took more effort to reach Wolverine-level shape while juggling a theatrical agenda. Yet there was one major payoff – taking out Ryan Reynolds.

Jackman went on to say, “I’m doing eight shows a week right now, so I’m only lifting weights three times a week but I’ll be getting into it once or twice a day as soon as this is done in a month. And I’ll have six months to prep and I always have the same approach every time I go in.” Hugh added, “I want it to be better than ever, to be in better shape than ever, more able to do things than ever. I just get the added incentive of taking Ryan Reynolds out each day.”

Ryan Reynolds first appeared as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman. After reprising his role multiple times, the latter retired from playing Wolverine after Logan was released in 2017. At this year’s D23 Expo, Jackman confirmed that he will be returning to the character and time travel might feature in the storyline; reassuring fans that it wouldn’t disrupt anything previously established within Logan’s timeline.

During a recent appearance on The Jess Cagle Show, he shared his thoughts saying, “All because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines. Now, we can go back because it’s science, and so I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me, and I think probably to the fans too.”

Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters on November 8th, 2024.
