It is a romantic-comedy series. The story is about Seo Mi-rae, an overworked webtoon producer of a small production company. The drama features well-known actors from the Korean entertainment industry, such as Seo Kang-joon and Lee Jae-wook. It shows Mi-rae’s struggles choosing between a real-life love story and the virtual dating service that she has accidentally subscribed to. Boyfriend on Demand begins with Seo Mi-rae’s earlier life. In which she and her long-time boyfriend break up after a conflict related to work. After the breakup, she got tired of real-life dating and subscribed to a virtual dating app that gives her the chance to date someone who can be her ideal boyfriend.

    Review of Boyfriend on Demand

The series has received mixed reviews from different review sites. Some viewers have appreciated the visual production, while others have criticized its script and lead actor performances. IMDb has given it a 7.8 rating out of 10, with over 400 reviews in its first 24 hours, which is not bad in my opinion. On Reddit, one user posted, ‘Boyfriend on Demand- Much better than I anticipated.’ However, on other reviewing sites like Rotten Tomatoes, the number of reviews is too low to conclude. Boyfriend on Demand was originally developed to broadcast on MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), one of the leading Korean television broadcasting networks, but was later acquired by Netflix.
