In the year 2001, Pitbull signed with Luke Records, a company owned by Luther Campbell. However, he parted ways with them after his contract expired. He then began collaborating with Lil Jon until his deal came to an end too. His debut solo performance featured him rapping over one of Lil Jon’s tracks and was received well enough that it appeared on Lil Jon’s 2002 album “Kings of Crunk.” After this initial success, Pitbull started releasing mixtapes that included both remixes of popular rap songs as well as original freestyle work.
