The Predator actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is set to rock the screen. Actor turned politician Arnold Schwarzenegger will play the main lead in his first scripted series. It will be launched on Netflix in the coming few months.
The “Terminator” actor will star in the television series, Utap. This former Mr. Universe was an Austrian-born American bodybuilder. Moreover, he was an actor and politician who appeared in many blockbuster action films. He also served as governor of California (2003-11). In his five-decade-long career, he has starred in major blockbusters. However, this will be his first venture for a TV role.
Schwarzenegger’s Career
Schwarzenegger is the most prominent figure in the history of bodybuilding. He defeated many rivals, due to which people named him the Styrian Oak or Austrian Oak. This Red Sonja won three more Mr. Universe titles. Later on, he won the professional Mr. Olympia title six years in a row (1970 – 75) before retiring. In 1968, he went to California to train and compete in international contests in the United States.
With The Terminator (1984), he became a worldwide sensation. After a few years, he went on to feature in two sequels over the next 20 years (1991 and 2003).
Is Schwarzenegger in The New Series?
According to Deadline, the competition became fierce for the project. However, it was Netflix that triumphed. The announcement is fascinating because Schwarzenegger has little or no experience with television and has never appeared in a major franchise.
The Herculean Australian actor will play a significant TV role that will be on Netflix. Schwarzenegger’s role as the series’s leading man extends his association with Skydance. Since he previously reprised his role as the T-800 in Terminator: Genisys and Terminator: Dark Fate.
The acquisition of the Utap also reinforces Netflix’s long-standing partnership with Skydance. In 2020, the studio collaborated on The Primitive Guard with Denver and Delilah Films and 6 Underground with Bay Films. The company also created the American comedy series Grace and Frankie and the sci-fi series Altered Carbon.
The Plot
The story revolves around a father and daughter. Both have worked as CIA operatives for years. However, they have kept their CIA involvement disguised from the public. This causes friction in their entire relationship. When the couple learns of each other, they work together as partners. Moreover, they discover who each other is essentially against the backdrop of explosive action and espionage.
Netflix still only has Arnold Schwarzenegger and actress Monica Barbaro listed as cast members. The characters will show a father-daughter relationship. Monica Barbaro will also appear in Military of the Ineffective: Lost Vegas, a forthcoming animated prequel. Thanks to Production Weekly, we know that the sequence is now under pre-production as of January 2022. It will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
