Benji Gregory Hertzberg, the child actor and voice, who came into fame with the 90s sitcom, Alf, has passed away. He was 46 at the time of his death.
While the actor passed away on June 13, 2024, his death was publicly announced on July 10, 2024. His death was confirmed by his sister who claimed that Mr Gregory and his service dog were found dead in the car at a parking lot in Peoria, Ariz, and the family did not announce the death for taking time to mourn. The same announcement claimed that her brother died of heat stroke.
Announced through a Facebook post by Rebecca, it read, “My brother Ben was found in his car, along with his beloved service dog Hans, deceased on June 13. We believe he went there on the evening of the 12th to deposit some residuals. (Found in his car) and never got out of the car to do so. He fell asleep and died from vehicular heatstroke.”
Benji Gregory, started his acting career when he was 6 and gained prominence with the sitcom ALF, wherein he played Brian Tanner. The web series was about an alien-like family which adopts a snout-nosed dog; in the show, Brian plays ALF’s younger sibling and best friend.

Born on May 26, 1978, in an acting family, his father, uncle, and sisters were known actors in Hollywood, and it was his grandmother who worked as an agent for him.
Besides ALF, Benji Gregory has worked for several media commercials and shows in the 1980s. Some of them were The Twilight Zone, The A-Team, Punky Brewster and Amazing Stories. In 1986, he was featured in Jumping Jack Flash wherein he played Harry Carlson Jr. alongside Whoopi Goldberg. In 1993, he played Edgar The Mole in the animated film, Once Upon A Forest.
In 2004, he shifted his career from Hollywood to serve in the U.S. Navy as an Aerographer’s mate; the Navy was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. A statement given by Benji’s sister, Rebecca, also claimed that his brother was undergoing therapy for depression, and bipolar disorder.
