Will there be a Blue Bloods season 15?
Deadline confirmed on November 20, 2023, that the 14th season of Blue Bloods will be its last. The two-part fourteenth season started airing its first ten episodes on February 16, 2024. Moreover, the remaining eight episodes, which comprise the second part, will premiere in October 2024, with the last episode slated for release in December this year.
Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, President of CBS Studios, confirmed this in a joint statement. They said, “Blue Bloods will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy. It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”
Further, the show’s executive producer and writer, Kevin Wade, stated, “We look forward to giving fans an exciting and emotionally satisfying final season, and we are forever grateful for their enthusiasm and their loyalty over all these years.”

Why was Blue Bloods season 15 canceled?
The reason to end this long-running drama was nothing but monetary. CBS pulled the plug on the show because of the high cost of production. Not only this, the fourteenth season was itself renewed after difficult negotiations. CBS pushed for major budget cuts of 25% for above-the-line talent, including actors.
In order to keep the show running and avoid the unemployment of hundreds of individuals, the cast and producers agreed to a salary reduction.
Is there going to be a spinoff for Blue Bloods season 15?
Despite the confirmation that there will be no further installments for Blue Bloods, there are enough hints of a potential spinoff. During Paramount Global’s shareholder meeting this month, Brian Robbins, the CEO of Paramount Pictures, said, “We are building tomorrow’s billion dollar brands right now.”
“In TV, new franchise extensions are coming for Dexter, Billions and Blue Bloods, and CBS’ hit Fire Country shows huge promise.”
This statement has led to speculation that Blue Bloods will be getting a spinoff. There is no official word on it right now, but the spinoffs for Dexter, Billions, Fire Country, and NCIS have been announced.
Final words
Even though all the doors were closed for Blue Bloods, a spinoff might be in the works. It remains uncertain whether the spinoff will feature a new generation or the same characters. Nonetheless, fans can stream the already-aired episodes of Blue Bloods on Paramount+, Hulu, and Prime Video.
