    Challenges in a Clerical Job

Clerical jobs are high-functioning jobs demanding intense physical & mental labour. With its unique set of challenges, it can impact both job satisfaction & long-term career plans in this sector.

    • A person can feel monotonous and have burnout as it involves routine-based repetitive tasks.
    • Physical strain and health concerns can be a hurdle as they require long screen hours and multitasking.
    • Accuracy and diligence are key skills of a clerk, as they deal largely with data; even minor errors can cause huge losses and regulatory issues.
    • There is also low recognition and face value of the job role; a lot of clerical workers feel unappreciated and undervalued. And also, there is a steeper growth curve in the career path.

Automation & AI Threats in Clerical Jobs

With increasing advancements in technology and generative AI, clerical jobs are the most affected and vulnerable in the market. There are high chances of automation as AI has made data entry, scheduling, and documentation much easier and hassle-free. 39% of workers’ existing skill sets will become outdated and will be transformed by 2030, and clerical workers are expected to see the largest decline in numbers.

How can you Sustain Clerical Jobs in AI Threats?

Though it’s evident that AI & automation are geared up to imperil traditional clerical roles but it has also opened doors for new opportunities. We can automate repetitive tasks, but it can’t be done without human intervention, as it requires critical thinking, emotional intelligence, decision-making, and ground-level knowledge. Always remember that artificial intelligence works on secondary data that humans provide to AI. Therefore, we always have room for something new, and human potential is unlimited. All we require is to upskill ourselves and learn to use these technical advancements in our favour to make complex tasks easier and increase productivity.
