Gyeongseong Creature is a South Korean drama starring Park Seo-Joon, Han So-hee, and Soo Hyun. The series is written by Kang Eun-Kyung and directed by Chung Dong-yoon and Roh Young-sub. The story is set in the spring of 1945 in Gyeongseong, now known as Seoul, and shows the story of people fighting at the borders. The first season of the series was highly acclaimed, and Netflix has officially renewed it for a second season. The latest teaser shows a shift in the story of the series, as the first season of the series was set in the 1945 era, while the second season shows 2024 Seoul. The first season was divided into two parts. The first seven episodes were released on Netflix on December 22, 2023, and the remaining three episodes, called Part 2, premiered on January 5, 2024.

The storyline for the first season revolves around the mysterious incidents in Onseong Hospital, where many people disappear, and a group of survivors dealing with the monstrous creatures born from human greed. The first season focused on the period of Japanese empire rule in 1945; the trailer indicates that the second season will have Park Seo-Joon and Han So-hee in modern-day Seoul. One scene shows Park Seo Joon in an antique piece’s place, while another shows Han Hee lying injured, which creates suspense and makes the viewers excited about the second installment.

The trailer first displays footage from the past, and then Park Seo Joon is dressed casually, looking at old footage. As he starts to critically analyze the footage, an unidentified figure elsewhere says, “It’s ready, Ho Jae. Let’s go!”. The caption on the teaser also talks about the shift in the storyline, saying, “From Gyeongseong 1945 to Seoul 2024.” Netflix shared the teaser of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 on their Instagram account, along with the caption, “You didn’t think it’d end there, right? Gyeongseong Creation Season 2 is coming. Only on Netflix.”

The director of Gyeongseong Creature, Chung Dong-Yoon, talked about his expectations for the second season. He stated, “Season 2 presents a story with a completely different charm. The change in space and time period will provide a clear distinction, offering an expanded universe feel.”

Reportedly, the season, which is scheduled to be released in 2024, will also feature Lee Mu-saeng and Bae Hyeon-Seong. According to Netflix, the first season scored a position in the top five Netflix shows in India between December 25 and December 31.
