Infection mode is the Halo franchise’s take on zombies. The season 4 of Halo Infinite is getting the infection mode along with some other additions. The Infection mode first appeared on Halo 3. Then it was reprised in Halo Reach, Halo 2 Anniversary, and Halo 5: Guardians. In Halo 4 there was a similar mode with a different name, Flood. To the great joy of Halo fans, season 4 is releasing on June 20th and the Infection mode is launching on the same date.
If you are not aware, Infection is a mode of gameplay where survivors are pitted against zombies. The survivors are armed with shotguns and the infected zombies use energy swords. Once a zombie kills a survivor, the latter gets infected and joins the zombie team. How crazy is that!
Apart from Infection, Halo Infinite 4 is also getting Career Ranking where players will be assigned with military-inspired ranks. Season 4 also probably has “343’s official Forge remake of the Halo 5 map Plaza.” These are going to be welcome changes for the fans of Halo Infinite.

343 Industries, the developers of Halo under Microsoft, has also announced a Bonus XP Weekend over June 2-4 to finish off season 3 in style. Notably, 343 is releasing Halo Infinite season 4 within three and a half months of the launch of season 3. The company had promised shorter seasons in future after taking 10 months to release season 3 after season 2.
Joseph Staten, a long time contributor to Halo has left Microsoft to join Netflix Games. There was a buzz about whether Microsoft will take Halo away from 343. Nevertheless, XBox’s Phil Spencer has clarified that Halo’s “heart and soul is with 343.” Hence, all eyes are set on 343 and the impending launch of Halo Infinite season 4.
