The wizarding world created by HBO is back in the Muggles world again, but in the form of a TV series, and the hype is already on.
The first picture of the upcoming Harry Potter series was released by HBO on July 14, 2025, in which Dominic McLaughlin was presented as the new Harry Potter, who was once played by Daniel Radcliffe. He shows up with the new uniform, Gryffindor outfit, signature round glasses, and on top of that, he possesses the notorious lightning-shaped scar.
Filming of the Harry Potter series had started back in July, and it was being done at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England, where the movies were previously shot. The series will be released on HBO and Max early in 2027.
It will also be the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first Harry Potter book. A given book will be covered in each season, with more time to discuss characters and stories that have been omitted or truncated in the movies.
New Harry Potter Series Cast
The series stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Stars such as John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Snape are also famous. Other prominent characters are Rory Wilmot as the character equivalent of Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Ollivander. The cast of actors is a mixture of both rookie and veteran actors.

The project is being supervised by Francesca Gardiner, who is a showrunner behind the scenes. A Succession director, such as Mark Mylod, is not only directing a couple of episodes but is also an executive producer. The pooled creative talents to create the series also include award-winning costume designer Holly Waddington (Normal People) and writer Laura Neal (Killing Eve).
J.K. Rowling is an executive producer of the show and has described the first two scripts as being, “SO, SO, SO GOOD!” Although not everyone among the fans is excited about her participation, HBO cannot leave her behind, as she is quite affiliated with the story.
Since each season of the series is planned to reflect only one book, it will be possible to immerse oneself in the magic world more thoroughly. The viewers will be provided with a more elaborate image of the life of Harry, beginning with his life in the cupboard under the staircase, right up to Hogwarts. Filled with magic and mystery, the Harry Potter series on HBO and Max will give you a thrilling escape into the magical wizarding world, whether you have been there all your life or are recently joining it.
