The British LGBTQ+ romantic drama series, ‘Heartstopper’, has been renewed
Netflix has crafted an exceptional romantic drama series, Heartstopper. It’s based on the graphic novel by Alice Oseman. Alice also serves as the executive producer and creator of the show. The show revolves around two grammar school boys from Britain who form a beautiful love story as they discover their feelings for each other.
Netflix’s Heartstopper was a tremendous success. Many considered it one of Netflix’s best high school dramas ever. It has earned an impressive 100% RottenTomatoes rating from critics and ranked #150 on IMDb’s top list. Its popularity is backed up by five wins at the 2022 Children’s & Family Emmy Awards.

Netflix has announced the renewal of Heartstopper for two more seasons.
The official Netflix Twitter account said: “To those who have fallen in love with Nick & Charlie, cried watching Alice Oseman’s magical story brought to life, or felt represented for the first time on-screen, I am elated to announce… Heartstopper has been renewed for TWO MORE SEASONS!”
This type of two-season order renewal is a rare occurrence and it doesn’t happen often.
The viewership data of Heartstopper speaks a lot about the drama’s colossal popularity. After its first week, 14.5 million hours had been watched; a 65% increase was observed in the second week at 23.9 million hours and only a 37% drop-off occurred when it aired for an additional period.
Heartstopper has also featured on the worldwide top ten list, dominating 67 countries including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. It achieved 9th place in the US Top 10 list. The show earned 2nd spot in the UK.
According to Digital i, a British SVOD analytics company, Heartstopper had an impressive completion rate of 73%. This figure reflects the percentage of viewers who began watching and went on to finish all episodes.
How Many Seasons of Heartstopper Can We Expect?
Alice Oseman, the genius behind Heartstopper and executive producer of its show adaptation, shared with RadioTimes that it might take up to four seasons for the series to tell its “full story.”
She said, “I haven’t done any in-detail planning or anything, but it’s quite easy to divide up the books into seasons, so four I think would do it.”
