“Rudy” was a heartwarming football biopic in which Favreau starred in 1993 Vince Vaughn, who would later become his good friend and regular collaborator. In 1994, he played Eric the Clown on an episode of “Seinfeld.”
In 1996, after Favreau moved to Los Angeles, he sold his screenplay “Swingers” to Jon and Vince. The next year, Favreau had a recurring role on six episodes of “Friends,” followed by starring roles in the science fiction film “Deep Impact” (1998), which increased his popularity among moviegoers, as well as the black comedy “Very Bad Things” (1998).
