Nicki Minaj and SZA, two of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B, are now caught in a public argument after a tense exchange on social media.
It all began on X (formerly Twitter), where SZA posted a short message:
The post seemed harmless, but it came shortly after Nicki Minaj had spoken out online against Top Dawg Entertainment’s president, Punch, and ROC Nation CEO Desiree Perez. Minaj took SZA’s comment as a subtle jab.
Minaj, never one to stay quiet, fired back:
The hashtags refer to claims from Desiree Perez’s daughter, who has accused her mother of abuse. Minaj has been supporting the young girl publicly for several days and sees Perez as part of a larger problem in the music industry.
SZA responded quickly:
This answer only made things worse. Minaj continued to fire shots. She questioned SZA’s talent and even said her career wouldn’t be missed if it disappeared overnight.
She wrote:
“If every track you’ve ever released disappeared right now, the music industry wouldn’t even notice.”
SZA hit back again, saying:
I wasn’t even talking about or to anyone I had just got off stage talkin bout retrograde . NIGGAS @‘d ME . The FUCK YES IM MAD NOW DO YOU NEED THAT !??

Their fans flooded the platform. Some defended SZA, saying she meant no harm. Other individuals advocated for Minaj and praised her for fighting against the evils of the industry.
The trade did not take long, and the news was among the hottest on the internet.
It was even shocking to several fans who thought the relationship between SZA and Nicki was friendly. Back in the past, SZA affirmed that she had contributed towards the Nicki song; Feeling Myself. It was a huge song in the “The Pinkprint” album that included Beyoncé.
Although they never had a song together in full, somehow, there was an impressive feeling that these two musicians were tied creatively off-stage. Now, that connection seems broken. Their once quiet link as artists has turned into a loud public dispute.
SZA and Nicki Minaj are not best friends at present. The battle is still unfolding in real-time mode with social media casting a beady eye on each step.
