What happened to Nikkita Lyons?

On a recent episode of NXT, Nikkita Lyons was the victim of a sneak attack in the parking lot. Cameras caught the moment when she was shown grabbing at her right leg in agony. 

Both Indi Hartwell and Lyra Valkyria immediately came to check on Lyons, while the cameras showed Zoey Stark leaving the parking lot after the incident took place. Later, Lyons announced that she suffered a torn ACL and meniscus on January 25, and she subsequently underwent surgery. She is currently recovering from her injury before stepping back into the ring.

Early Life and Family of Nikkita Lyons 

Nikkita Lyon’s real name is Faith Jefferies. She was born on August 5, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nikkita was raised in Hollywood, California, where she developed an interest in martial arts. 

She began practicing Taekwondo at the age of four and earned a black belt by the age of eight. Her martial arts background would later serve her well in her professional wrestling career.

Who Trained Nikkita Lyons?

After graduating from high school in early 2017, Jefferies decided to pursue her passion for professional wrestling. She began her training under Selina Majors, a former professional wrestler, and debuted for Women of Wrestling (WOW) in 2018 under the ring name “Faith The Lioness.”

Jefferies’ big break came in the summer of 2021 when she attended WWE’s tryouts in Las Vegas. Her talent caught the attention of the WWE officials, and she was offered a developmental contract soon after.

Jefferies made her WWE debut on the December 31, 2021 episode of 205 Live, where she competed under the ring name Nikkita Lyons. 

Although she lost to Amari Miller in her debut match, she made a strong impression with her skills and athleticism.

In February 2022, Jefferies made her NXT debut, defeating Kayla Inlay in a singles match. She quickly rose through the ranks and entered into a feud with Lash Legend, beating her in two consecutive matches.

In May 2022, Jefferies participated in the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament, where she defeated Arianna Grace in the first round. However, her journey in the tournament was cut short when she suffered a partial MCL tear and an MCL sprain, forcing her to withdraw from the competition.

In June 2022, Jefferies made a strong return to NXT, defeating NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose by disqualification. She also competed in a 20-woman battle royal on the July 19 episode of NXT to determine the number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship, where she eliminated two opponents before being eliminated by Tiffany Stratton.

On the August 8 episode of Raw, it was announced that Jefferies would be teaming up with Zoey Stark in a tournament to fill the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, which had been vacant since May. However, Jefferies and Stark were removed from the tournament on the August 19 episode of SmackDown due to Stark’s concussion and Jefferies’ vaccination status.

Jefferies returned to NXT on September 13, teaming up with Zoey Stark to defeat James and Arianna Grace. However, on the November 8 episode of NXT, Jefferies and Stark failed to capture the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship from Kayden Carter and Katana Chance.

In December 2022, Jefferies faced Stark in a singles match on the December 20 episode of NXT, but she was injured during the match. 

On the January 24, 2023 episode of NXT, Jefferies was the victim of a sneak attack in the parking lot, which left her with a torn ACL and meniscus. She underwent surgery soon after and is currently recovering from her injury.
