Nearly five years ago, Nintendo announced the reboot of the development for Metroid Prime 4. The company unveiled this news at E3 in 2017 and then reiterated in 2019 that they were starting over with the development of the latest Metroid Prime installment. There has been very little information about the game since then. On January 25, 2019, Shinya Takahashi, Senior Managing Executive Officer at Nintendo, said, “Ever since the announcement, we have not been able to give you an update. Although this is very regrettable, we must let you know that the current development progress has not reached the standards we seek in a sequel to the Metroid Prime series.”
Due to this infinite delay, the release date for Metroid Prime has been set as TBA. Moreover, several reports suggest that the next generation of Nintendo consoles is around the corner, and it is unknown what plans Nintendo has for Metroid Prime 4. As of now, the game is still being made for the Nintendo Switch. However, since the Switch 2 is also not far away, there are chances of Metroid Prime 4 being exclusive to the next-generation Nintendo console, and there could be plans to announce them jointly.

A YouTube channel named SuperMetalDave64 had earlier mentioned in their recent video that Nintendo is in the last development stage for Metroid Prime 4. There is no such confirmation regarding the release date; however, it was disclosed that Retro Studios has collaborated with the studio Next-Gen Dreams 3D. This is noteworthy because Next-Gen Dreams 3D has worked on the trailers for many popular games. Currently, the company is reportedly producing a trailer for Metroid Prime 4. This game has drawn a lot of attention, and fans have waited nearly seven years to know its official release date. This long-awaited game will finally get a release date, promising to satiate the anticipation of fans worldwide.
