An Australian photographer has accused Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, of punching him on a dock in Sydney Harbour on Tuesday morning. According to some reports, Scott got into a physical dispute with an Australian paparazzi photographer after Taylor’s final Sydney concert. The Australian police said they are investigating an incident involving a 71-year-old man who assaulted 51-year-old Ben McDonald. A new South Wales police spokesperson stated,
The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command.
Local media outlets have confirmed the man to be Ben McDonald, chief executive of Matrix Media Group, as the victim in this incident. McDonald has identified Taylor Swift’s father as the man who punched him.
I was just out on the job chasing Taylor,
She got off a superyacht at Neutral Bay and walked up the wharf with an umbrella over her head and a couple of security [guards] around her. Security sort of pushed us around with the umbrellas. Then her dad decided to add to the mix and throw a punch,
According to McDonald, Taylor Swift and her father were partying until late at night. The incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m. when Scott charged at him after stepping off their superyacht. Allegedly, Scott hit him on the left side of his face, causing noticeable and painful injuries. However, he did not need any medical assistance, according to the police.
Reportedly, the father-daughter duo was celebrating the end of Australia’s Eras tour. A representative from Swift’s side revealed to Page Six that
two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.
Moreover, some shots clicked at the dock show Taylor walking under a black umbrella with someone before the paparazzi followed her.
