Netflix’s enigmatic thriller, The Watcher, is one of the most highly anticipated series on the OTT giant. Inspired by a 2018 magazine article by Reeves Wiedeman, the series’ initial season propelled itself to the summit of Netflix’s most streamed programs.
Although the release dates were unknown, The Watcher secured a follow-up season in 2022. However, following the renewal announcements, all has been quiet on the show, although The Watcher Season 2 production was expected to commence following the end of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
Following a recent post from Murphy and an update from Netflix, The Details on the Watcher Season 2 remains ambiguous, and we can expect the series to not return anytime soon (2024 or 2025).
The update from Murphy was shared via Instagram, explaining his output coming in 2024 while celebrating Feud, which turned out to be the most-watched TV show on Hulu. The post was captioned as follows,

- Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story (Technically season 2)
The much-coveted list was announced simultaneously with Murphy’s Netflix series, Ratched, which is not returning for a second season. Likewise, The Politician has also been listed among the cancelled series by Clian Murphy.
Besides Murphy’s post, we can see Netflix unveiling a list of 90+ shows that are due for release in 2024. However, with such announcements, the mystery surrounding The Watcher Season 2’s identity persists, with the show’s creators deliberately withholding details.
Meanwhile, the list also unveiled many web series that are set to return in 2025, including Virgin River season 6, Ginny & Georgia season 3, Sweet Magnolias season 4, and Stranger Things season 5.
In essence, Netflix’s viewers eagerly await the release in 2024, anticipating the thrilling continuation of the captivating story; however, neither the OTT giant nor the creators have announced any details about The Watcher Season 2.
