Windows 11 Upgrade Suddenly Offered on Unsupported Windows 10 Systems

Windows 11 Upgrade Appears on Unsupported PCs: A Glitch or a New Policy?

Windows 11 has always come with strict upgrade rules. One of the biggest requirements is TPM 2.0, a security feature built into the newest PCs. Without it, Windows 10 users couldn’t upgrade unless they tried unofficial workarounds.

That’s why it is surprising that some people are now getting the Windows 11 upgrade offered through regular Windows Update on unsupported PCs. No registry hacks, no ISO files, just the update showing up like normal, even on devices without TPM 2.0 turned on.

This wasn’t possible before. Until recently, if a PC didn’t meet all the hardware requirements, including TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, it was automatically blocked from upgrading, and users had to stay on Windows 10.

But now, something has changed. Reports are popping up from users who were surprised to find the Windows 11 upgrade available on older machines that should have been ineligible.

So far, Microsoft hasn’t said anything about this. The official system requirements for Windows 11 are still the same. That means this is most likely a glitch or error in Microsoft’s upgrade system and not a new policy.

If you’re thinking about installing Windows 11 on your computer even though it doesn’t meet all the official requirements, I totally get the temptation! It might seem to work fine in the beginning, but issues could pop up later on. Your PC could slow down, act glitchy, or stop getting those all-important security updates from Microsoft. I’d suggest waiting until your computer is fully supported. That way, you’ll avoid headaches down the road and keep things running smoothly and securely.

Right now, it is better to wait.

Windows 10 will receive updates and support until October 14, 2025. After that, some users can get extra security updates through paid programs.

If your computer shows the option to upgrade to Windows 11 but does not meet the requirements, it is better to stay clear of it. This upgrade offer might be a mistake. It is not officially supported by Microsoft.
