Grace Hightower is a multi-talented American who has worked in philanthropy, business, entertainment, and music industries. Grace Hightower is the brains behind the Rwandan coffee company Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda, which aims to assist its native farmers in getting a fair wage for their wares. After dabbling in several fields early in her career, she settled on acting for some time. She is active in various organizations, many of which are dedicated to humanitarian or charity causes. 

Early Life

In Kilmichael, Mississippi, in the United States, she was born on April 7, 1955. She spent her childhood on the farm where her parents worked. Grace’s ancestry includes both Africans and Native Americans. She was one of nine siblings who all grew up in Kilmichael, Mississippi. She came from a low-income background and spent her childhood doing odd jobs.

In 1980, she was spotted by two high-profile employees of the PR department at the New York department store Saks Fifth Avenue, which opened doors for her to begin modeling for the company and other companies.

Personal Life

Grace Hightower’s personal life has been eventful, with triumphs and trials. In 1987, Grace Hightower met Robert De Niro at Mr Chow, a famous Chinese restaurant frequented by London’s elite. They immediately clicked and started dating after that.

Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower married in 1997. Their first kid was born the following year. However, things began to go downhill for the couple’s marriage in 1999, when De Niro first sought a divorce and then, in 2001, sought legal custody of the couple’s kid. After years of fighting in court, the couple finally made up in 2004 and repeated their wedding vows. Their second kid, delivered through a surrogate in 2011, was a joyous addition to the family. The pair ran into further difficulties in November 2018 and eventually split up.


In 2013, Grace Hightower went into business for herself, creating Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda. After that, she joined the New York Women’s Foundation’s board of directors. In addition to her work with the American Cancer Society, she also volunteers with other organizations. The Vogue magazine was invited to her 55th birthday celebration.

In the 2009 American drama film Precious, she gave a career-enhancing performance. After that, in 2012, she had a leading role in the American drama film The Paperboy. Additionally, she had a small part in an episode of the ABC police drama NYPD Blue.
