Born on August 28th, 1969, Thomas Jacob Black, more commonly known as Jack Black, was raised in a Jewish family residing in Santa Monica, California. His parents served as satellite engineers; his mother had worked on the Hubble Space Telescope and authored several books. Unfortunately however at age 10, after his parent’s divorce, he had to relocate with his father to Culver City.
During Jack Black’s tumultuous high school years, he found himself in circumstances that caused him to fear for his life. In order to ensure his safety and well-being, at the age of 14 Jack Black was sent away from traditional schooling to Poseiden School, an institute specifically designed for students who were not succeeding in a typical educational setting. He then transferred over to Crossroads School where he attended drama classes until finally graduating. Though he initially attempted college at UCLA afterward, Jack decided it wasn’t the right fit and ultimately left university early on so as to focus all of his energy on pursuing acting full time.
