Jennifer Lopez Opens Up On How The Usage Of Artificial Intelligence Is Scary

American actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has joined the never-ending discussion on the usage of artificial intelligence. She has expressed her opinion about both the pros and cons of AI and also revealed how she was a victim of this technology.

In her recent movie, Atlas, which was released by Netflix on May 24, 2024, she plays the titular role of a data analyst. The movie, directed by Brad Peyton, features Lopez turning to AI in order to save the earth from an evil robot.

As per Variety, Lopez told the outlet at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles,

I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right.

It’s really scary. Right away we had them stealing our faces. So, yes, [AI] is really scary. I think you should be respectful of AI…We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI — especially this one — do a really good job of showing both sides.

Lopez recalled how she felt extremely exploited when some skincare ads morphed her photos and covered her face in wrinkles.

Atlas Shepherd (Lopez), a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it.

The film has received mixed reviews. Atlas is currently streaming on Netflix. It has become one of the top 10 most-viewed movies throughout the Memorial Day weekend on the OTT giant.
