Podcasts are having a moment in recent times- no doubt. They are there just for a while and were started when we all stuck at homes. Music services, production companies, and many more are betting big format, either by snapping up the platforms and high-profile hosts or announcing new shows at pace. However, this is very much good but what about aspiring creators and journalists who are honing their skills still at home?
Recent updates claim that colleges and universities have added podcast courses to the curriculum, covering everything from initial ideas to how to do a podcast like a pro. One such school that is going to come up with the podcast courses is NYU (New York University). NYU university patterned up with Spotify- one of the biggest players in the podcast industry. Hence Spotify is the company going to grant a three-week intensive course to students on podcasts this winter. Isn’t this move a good one?
Holt, the person in charge of Spotify Studios explains that the company recognizes a gap during the hiring process. He noted that the only challenge is to select people from a different discipline and then making them understand how to work on audio and others as well. Holt says that when I was going through my education, the best part of my classes was guest speakers having experience through which we can easily learn everything. So, I was like how can I bring experience people together with students interested in media? Therefore, through the existing relationships with schools, Spotify has already begun the potential partnerships for podcast-specific courses and seminars.
Hence, Holt says that the only goal is to make the students learn how to podcast like a pro.
