'Seven' Co-Writer Jon Bellion Didn't Grasp the 'Gravity' of Jung Kook's Solo Hit Until It Arrived

Jung Kook’s solo hit “Seven” has skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. One person who played a significant role in the song’s creation had no clue that it was going to take the world of music by storm. We are talking about Jon Bellion, the singer, rapper, and producer who co-wrote the song.

In a recent interview with Billboard news Bellion admitted that he hadn’t realized the song’s explosive potential while writing it. Recalling his journey with the song Bellion said, “l got a phone call from [record producer Andrew] Watt … this is probably two years ago. On a random Saturday, I kinda just took it into the studio myself and … kinda filled it out.” He went on to add, “It kind of in my mind fell by the wayside and was just like, ‘Oh, another song that you work on in a session.’ Like, ‘I really think it’s a great song, super catchy and can be really great for somebody.’”

Although Jon Bellion has played a significant role in the formation of the song, he humbly attributes its success to Jung Kook’s fame and artistry and the verse by Latto who was a featuring artist. He said, “The artists make it their song. We provide the bare bones and we provide the skeleton, but they need to make it believable, so I think that Latto came and crushed it.”

Jung Kook became the second BTS member to have a Billboard chart topper outside of the band. Jimin was the first BTS member to achieve this feat with his track “Like Crazy.”

The impact of “Seven” extends beyond the music itself. It highlights the power of international collaboration and showcases the ability of certain artists to connect with audiences far from home.
