‘The Cuphead Show!’ Season 4: Renewed or Canceled?

The show has just completed its third season, and the network is still deciding whether to renew it for a fourth.

The Cuphead Show! first graced Netflix with its presence in February 2022. It smashed through the streaming service’s viewership records. This animated gem quickly captivated viewers across three seasons before ending in November. 

Inspired by the popular video game, this series tells the journey of Cuphead and his brother Mugman.

Official Status of Renewal: Pending

The fate of The Cuphead Show is still unknown, with no official announcement from Netflix yet.

Given Netflix’s track record in animated shows, the chances of The Cuphead Show! coming back for a fourth season seems poor.

For anime, Netflix often orders a specific number of episodes ahead of time. This time they granted an upfront order of 36 episodes for The Cuphead Show! over three seasons.

Consequently, any future episodes would require a season renewal. However, there has been no official announcement that this will occur. So currently, the third season is regarded as the last of the show.

Although Netflix has not officially announced that season 3 is the last, there’s still a possibility they may come back. Unfortunately, we have no precedent based on their record to go by.

Last November, What’s on Netflix spoke with Deeki Deke — head writer for The Cuphead Show! His animated movie, The Soccer Football Movie released on Netflix worldwide at that time.

When they questioned about what could come in future seasons, this was the writer’s reply: “There better be more – I have too many episode ideas! I’m hopeful there’s a renewal or a continuation in some form, but we’ll see.”
