Annie Wersching, the Actress from 'The Last of Us', Passes Away at 45

We’re saddened to report that Annie Wersching, the actress behind Tess in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us video game, has passed away at 45 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Apart from her renowned performance in The Last of Us, Annie Wersching had a notable career as Renee Walker on the popular TV show “24”. This role saw her appear in 37 episodes across two seasons, acting as an FBI agent.

From hit sci-fi franchises such as “Star Trek: Enterprise,” “Touch,” and “Extant” to series like the beloved CW show “Charmed,” the popular CBS drama “Cold Case,” David E. Kelley’s Emmy award-winning legal comedy-drama “Boston Legal;” the supernatural suspense thriller “Supernatural,” acclaimed police procedural franchise shows including  CSI & NCIS, Wersching has made her mark on television. 

She also had a role in Jim Carrey’s 2003 comedic blockbuster Bruce Almighty before appearing in various episodes of TV programs ranging from General Hospital & The Vampire Diaries to Timeless, Runaways & Bosch. Recently she starred in six episodes of the ABC crime drama series The Rookie for which she is best known now.

Annie Wersching will forever be remembered by her beloved husband, Stephen Full, and their three sons Freddie (12), Ozzie (9), and Archie (4). To aid Annie’s family during this difficult time, a Go Fund Me page has been established.

Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us, recently shared a tweet that stated: “Just found out my dear friend, Annie Wersching, passed away. We just lost a beautiful artist and human being. My heart is shattered. Thoughts are with her loved ones. I miss my silly friend who helped bring Tess to life.”

“Annie, you left us way too soon. You will forever be part of the TLoU & Naughty Dog family!”, he added.
