Netflix UK has announced a date for Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 8’s release

After a long gap, Brooklyn Nine-Nine came back for its eighth and final season on NBC. Netflix subscribers around the world are able to access all ten episodes,  except in the United States. Here’s an update with information about when it’ll be released on Netflix and why US viewers can’t stream it yet.

Created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor, the series began its journey on Fox. Then the show moved to NBC for seasons 6-8.

After a lengthy gap between seasons, the final season premiered on August 12th and concluded mid-September 2021. This marks an unprecedented move for the series to air during the summer months. It happened because of its correlation with that year’s Olympics games. Furthermore, they had to rework certain episodes following the national outcry against George Floyd’s murder in 2020.

Why isn’t Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix US?

Netflix did not secure the domestic streaming rights for Brooklyn Nine-Nine which left them exclusive to both Hulu and Peacock Premium. You will be able to stream all seven seasons instantly. However, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is not available on the free tier of Peacock Premium.

Hulu lost its rights to the NBC show and it is now only accessible through Peacock Premium.

NBC Universal still licenses titles to Netflix US so there is always a chance for the show to return to Netflix US.

When Can We Expect Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 on Netflix Globally?

Unogs reports that more than 37 international regions are streaming the show on Netflix even though it is not officially a Netflix Original.

Since 2014, Netflix has been consistently rolling out new seasons of your favorite shows in most regions. For instance, UK audiences can typically expect a fresh season each year. Across other territories, there may be slight discrepancies from region to region. For example, Season 7 arrived on the streaming platform in March 2021 for those living in the UK. Canadians had to wait until April of that same year.

Netflix users in Australia and Canada were able to access season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in August 2022 and September 2021, respectively.

Netflix UK subscribers had to wait for the longest. Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 8 is coming to Netflix UK on April 20th, 2023.
