Disenchantment Season 5: Renewed or Canceled?

Matt Groening’s Disenchantment debuted on Netflix in August 2018. It came out with 40 delightful episodes of adventure. Bean, Elfo, and Luci traverse the kingdom of Dreamland and face hilarious, mysterious, and thrilling adventures. T

The fourth installment of Disenchantment arrived on Netflix worldwide on February 9th, 2022.

Disenchantment came out as a 20-episode season, split into two. Initially, Netflix placed an order for twenty episodes. Shortly after that success, Netflix ordered another set of twenty episodes, parts 3 and 4 combined.

Can We Expect Disenchantment Season 5?

  • Official Status of Renewal: Not Yet Renewed
  • Our Prediction for Renewal: Likely Canceled

Netflix renewals always depend upon performance and the profitability of producing additional episodes. If renewed, viewers can look forward to two more parts consisting of twenty new episodes each — Part 5 and Part 6.

After the release of Disenchantment Part 1, the news of its Season 2 came a month later. This type of long renewal process typically indicates that the show might have been put on indefinite hold or canceled altogether.

Netflix’s YouTube channel has also removed the trailers for Disenchantment.

Immediately after the fourth season of Disenchantment debuted, its social media accounts went mute within a month.

What Happened in Disenchantment Season 4?

Before we dive into what could be next, let’s take a moment to recap the events of Disenchantment Part 4.

In the last episode, we saw Bean attempting to battle against a dream version of herself. Then an evil force takes her over and she needs Luci’s help. We also see her striving to sharpen her newfound electrical powers throughout the final show. After defeating the “evil bean”, Mora and Bean find themselves thrown underwater.

As Zøg and Odval embark on their mission to rescue Derek and Jasper in Steamland, everything goes awry as soon as Zøg gets knocked out.

In the post-credit scene, we find Dagmar sitting on the throne with Satan and the severed head of evil Bean. They look at the audience and smile.

Redditors on Disenchantment Season 5

According to a Redditor, the last season of the show seemed like it was leading directly into another one: “Season 4 felt kind of like a set up/exposition for season 5. It feels like a repetition of season 2 but in a better way. Also, I wonder if Bean might have some sort of Elven blood in her due to the magic? Or if it’s part of the curse?”

Season 5 will take us deeper into Mora and Bean’s relationship as well as the intensifying feud between Bean and Dagmar.

Bean will most probably expand her current capabilities, and even gain some new ones in upcoming episodes.

Another Redditor suggests that it won’t be much longer until we uncover the mystery of what this prophecy truly means: “Bean has to relive the original path of the look-alike in the portrait” or “Bean has to re-conquer Dreamland for hell, and maybe that’s why Dagmar didn’t want to be the queen of hell originally.”

How Well did Disenchantment Perform?

After its initial success in the opening week, Netflix’s Season 4 experienced an alarming decline of 28%. It was only their two weeks’ worth of data. The show raked in 17 million watch hours during its first seven days. But it dropped to 12.3 million for the following week.

IMDB Movie Meter has indicated the failure of Disenchantment’s fourth season to match its previous seasons’ momentum. We fear that Netflix canceled Season 5 quietly. Be sure to keep up with us for more developments on this matter.
