Eric Kripke created the American dark fantasy drama television series Supernatural, which first aired on September 13th, 2005. Starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, the story follows the two brothers hunting down various supernatural creatures such as ghosts, demons, monsters, and more.
Warner Bros. Television, Wonderland Sound and Vision, Kripke, McG, Robert Singer, Phil Sgriccia, Sera Gamble, and Jeremy Carver directed the series. John Shiban and Ben Edlund were executive producers for the fourth season of production. Former executive producer and director Kim Manners, unfortunately, passed away from lung cancer during this time.
After filming the pilot in Vancouver, British Columbia, and struggling for nearly ten years to get it picked up by a network, The WB finally gave creator Kripke the green light to produce a full season. The first season of Supernatural, which aired from 2005 to 2010, was intended to be the final chapter in a three-season story. Kripke originally planned the series to last only three seasons, but he eventually expanded his vision to five seasons. After the final season ended and Kripke stepped down as showrunner, the series came to a close.
Supernatural was renewed for its 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th seasons, making it the longest-running live-action American fantasy TV series. The final season aired on October 10th, 2019, and concluded on November 19th, 2020, running for 327 episodes over 15 years.
Supernatural Season 16 Release Date
The series ended after the fifteenth season. Season 15 aired in October 2019 and ended with the season finale on November 19, 2020. Misha Collins told TVLine before the show’s tenth season, “I’m stunned that the show is going as long as it is, not because I ever thought that it should be canceled or wouldn’t survive, but I joined in season four and I thought… ‘Well, this is probably somewhere near the end of the show.’” Collins further went on to add, “Originally, five was going to be the end of it.”
Unfortunately, there will be no season 16 of Supernatural.

The Plot of Supernatural
After their mother’s death, when Dean was 4 and Sam was 6 months old, the Winchester boys were raised by their father, John Winchester, to become “hunters” of evil. The Winchesters’ motto is “SAVING PEOPLE, HUNTING THINGS, THE FAMILY BUSINESS.” After John’s murder, the youngsters continue their duty with the assistance of other hunters. They go across the nation, killing monsters and rescuing people as they go. And they discover that family does not end with blood.
They will go to any lengths to save each other and their “family.” They’ll stand up against ghosts, vampires, demons, werewolves, witches, demigods, shapeshifters, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and even angels. They lose family members but find new people along the way that they come to call family. Because that’s what family does, and it doesn’t end with blood relations.
