The story is set in the spring of 1945 in Gyeongseong, now known as Seoul, and shows the story of people fighting at the borders. The latest teaser shows a shift in the story of the series, as the first season of the series was set in the 1945 era while the second season shows 2024 Seoul. The first season was divided into two parts. The first seven episodes were released on Netflix on December 22, 2023, and the remaining three episodes, called Part 2, premiered on January 5, 2024.

The storyline for the first season revolves around the mysterious incidents in Onseong Hospital, where many people disappear, and a group of survivors dealing with the monstrous creatures born from human greed. The first season focused on the period of Japanese empire rule in 1945; the trailer indicates that the second season will have Park Seo-Joon and Han So-hee in modern-day Seoul. One scene shows Park Seo Joon in an antique piece’s place, while another shows Han Hee lying injured, which creates suspense and makes the viewers excited about the second installment.
